Episode 10: The Power of Yet
Growth Mindset and Grace
Listen to This Episode
What if the thing you keep calling impossible is simply something you can’t do yet?
In this episode of Unshaken, Tony and Kristy talk about growth mindset and grace, and why one small word can change how you face hard things: yet. This is for the listener who feels stuck, tired, or discouraged, and needs a fresh way to keep moving without pretending life is easy.
Yet is where grace meets growth.
They share real examples from marriage, parenting, and disability, including how love languages change over time, what it looks like to coach kids through setbacks, and why progress often comes slowly, step by step. Then they anchor it in scripture, reminding you that God is not asking for perfection. He is shaping you, growing you, and walking with you as you learn to take the next faithful step.

Welcome back to Unshaken. Hope you’ve had an awesome week and that amazing things are happening for you. I’m Kristy, and today uh you’ve got my husband Tony and me together. I think we’d like to talk about growth mindset and grace, what that means, how it applies to our lives, and just some sort of practical thoughts around how to develop growth mindset in your own life, if that’s something that maybe you’ve struggled with. So let’s jump in. What is a growth mindset? For me, it’s knowing that it’s not that you can’t do something at all, it’s that you can’t do it yet. So um, you know, I think we’ve all been in a situation where if we face something new or we get to a place in something that’s familiar where it just gets hard and and it’s very easy to throw up your hands and just say, I can’t do it. It’s too much. And in those moments when we say it’s too much, if we’ve got a growth mindset, and I think that’s the preferable stance on this kind of thing, we would say it’s too much. I can’t do it yet. I haven’t learned how, I haven’t acquired the tools, I haven’t acquired the skills. Um so essentially it’s believing that you can learn it. It’s you can figure it out, you can grow in a way that will make you competent in the area where in the moment you feel like maybe you can’t. Um why is it important? I think it’s important because growth is growth is everything, right? Continuing to change and grow, um, to learn more, to to just become better versions of ourselves at every opportunity. I think that’s super critical. It’s just part of it’s the part of the way I want to live. And um, my guess is if you guys are listening to us, it’s part of the way you want to live too. So let’s talk about it. Tony, I feel like I’ve kind of just taken over. Is there anything you want to want to chime in?
Tony: 02:48
From a really basic high level that to also understand that that this growth mindset is not a new concept, you know. This is something that like believe it or not, it’s biblical. You know, if you take a cursory look at at really any piece of scripture, you’re going to find metaphors for growth or planting or harvesting or anything like that. And there’s so many metaphors and and things that that are around that idea of growth. And I truly believe that God wants us to continually grow, continually grow in our relationship, not only with Him, but with our spouses and with our families, and be able to be the best version of ourselves uh that we can possibly be.
Kristy: 03:46
I like it. So I think for a lot of us, or at least in a lot of situations, in those emotional moments where it’s easy to throw up your hands, but there’s just there’s almost always something we can do. We can, we just have to believe it, right? We have to believe that we have the ability that we love to learn, that we want to learn, that we can learn. You know, a few weeks back, I talked about presuming competence, right? In kids that are non-speaking. This is akin to presuming competence in yourself, that you have the ability to learn and you want to learn, and you’re gonna do the thing, you’re gonna master it. Um, I think when we have a growth mindset and we have setbacks or we have failures, we have to look at that as part of the process, right? It’s it’s not that we failed, it’s not that we fell, it’s not that we’ve messed up, it’s that maybe we learned how not to do it, or um it’s just it’s part of the progression toward getting better. So I’m thinking about you know, kind of of different sort of venues for this. So in terms of a growth mindset, let’s start with marriage. In the beginning of our relationship, Tony and I, one of the first things that we did once we kind of started dating and we’re sort of all in on this thing, was we did the five the love languages quiz, right? And at the it was kind of funny because I got like my results were so very clearly physical touch and quality time, like far and away. The the others weren’t even close. And Tony’s results were equally strong, and they were acts of service and words of affirmation. So we had essentially nothing in common in the the ways that we communicate about and and receive and feel loved. So in those early days, I like I thought, okay, well, maybe we’ll figure it out, but I didn’t put a whole lot to it, uh, just because I think it’s one of those things that it’s sort of intuitive for us, and it we do it the way that we would feel it, right? That’s how we try to express love. And there were times where I felt like I was just talking to a wall. I felt like I’m trying so hard. I’m trying so hard to make this guy happy, to let him know that I love him, and this is it has no value whatsoever. But I think over time we both have kind of come a lot more toward the middle on those things. And I think if I took the the quiz again now, I’m confident that that my answers would be very different, that my scores would come out very different, and that if the love languages that Tony values most didn’t come out at the top of mind, they’d be a lot closer than they were. And I would say that the same is true for Tony. Um, and I think it’s because as we grow together, like we can be married and we can know that every day we can make it better and we can keep investing in our relationship and we can work on the marriage, on sort of maintenance of the marriage, if you will. You know, and it’s whether it’s getting to know each other or thinking of new and different ways that we can support each other, just ways that we can show love. As you put in the effort, I think those sort of love languages just kind of morph together, right? We we just learn to move toward our person and to do things in ways that have more value to them. Um, and so I think with time and effort, you know, it’s there. But it starts with the idea that we can improve our marriage. It’s not just you get what you get, right? We get married and newlyweds are pretty much always pretty happy. But as time passes, if we don’t think that we need to or can improve the relationship or or continue to grow that relationship over time, I mean, it it’s not gonna grow. It’s it doesn’t do the work itself. And so I think a growth mindset with regard to relationships in marriage is critical. Tony, have have I said a bunch of stuff that you are you thinking I’m crazy?
Tony: 08:15
No, no, to me it’s funny because you know, things like you you mentioned in the beginning that you know the two strongest love languages for me were acts of service and words of affirmation. But I think, and I haven’t taken the the quiz in in a long time, uh I probably should just out of curiosity, but I I probably trend more towards uh the the physical touch and even quality time because when we’re together, like I want to hold your hand, I want to have my arm around you. Like when we’re sitting in church, like we see most couples like they’re sitting and they’re kind of stiff and they’re kind of like in their own little box, and and like you’re like leaning up against me, and you’re you know, like we’re comfortable, like and and almost like as if we were like at home, like watching a movie together, like like we’re we’re close, we’re we’re we’re together. And I think that you know those things are are just you know things that kind of have evolved over time, and I know that now when when you’re not home and when you’re not here, I miss you a heck of a lot more than than I used to miss you, you know, and that and that just speaks to me, that speaks to that quality time aspect. I like spending time with you. You know, I think it was either earlier today or maybe even yesterday that I saw this reel and I know that I sent it to you where you know that it was like a complaint of like you guys spend so much time together, and like the the character said, excuse me for liking my wife. And I thought, yeah, like why would I not want to spend time with my wife? Like, yes, I love my wife, but I mean, thank god that I like my wife as well. That I that I want to spend time with her. Like, I I don’t understand the the idea of we can only love our spouse, we can’t like them, and because I like you a lot. And I like you too. I mean, I just you know, I I like the person that you are. I you know, we we we enjoy each other’s company, you know, at least from my perspective, we do. And and yeah, I like my spouse. Those kind of things they come because of that growth mindset. Was I a quality time guy in in the very beginning of our relationship? Absolutely not. If if I could text you in the morning, hey, good morning, how you know, hope you have a great day, and like text you at night, hey, good night, and then we’ll talk to you tomorrow. Like, I was fine, but you know, you weren’t. You were like, wait a minute, we we didn’t talk today. We didn’t, you know, we we didn’t spend any time today. And so that was something that that we both struggled with in the in the beginning of our relationship, is you wanted to spend more time with me, and I’m like, we’re fine. When why are you mad? Why are you upset? And so, you know, so it but it but again because because we both have worked on you know the things that are important to us, I totally agree with you. I I think that we have kind of kind of melded and kind of moved towards that middle to where all of those things are now just a part of our daily life and a part of our just daily routine.
Kristy: 11:56
I think so too. I was thinking about in the beginning, and um, when words of affirmation was one of your highest ones, I remember thinking, like, seriously, you want me to tell you how great you are? Like, when I tell you I love you, am I not telling you that I think you’re pretty great? Like, I really struggled to understand that. And then, like you said, I mean, it’s it’s in working on the marriage that these things come where it felt so impossible. And now I am honored, I’m excited to tell you how great I think you are. I’m I’m gonna tell you in a minute here. Let me move on to, I wanted to talk about kind of with our kids why this is important. So in parenting, so growth mindset is something, go figure, that you can learn. And if you don’t have a growth mindset, some people don’t have a growth mindset at all, right? They think what I am and what I know, it’s it’s just how it is, it’s how I am. But it’s a skill that we can learn. And so I remember a time when Elin was little, and I always bought the kids velcro shoes when they were little because I was not about tying their shoes 50,000 times a day. And E picked this pair, it was a pair of sneakers that tied. They were super cute, they were sparkly and white with pink on the sides, but they tied, and she was absolutely insistent that those were the sneakers she was gonna get. And I said, That’s fine, but you can’t wear them to school until you can tie them yourself. And you’re four, so it’s gonna be a hot minute. We bought them a little big. So we get home, and this kid is like, I’m wearing these shoes to school. And I’m like, Okay, we’ll see. And sure enough, at four years old, Elin learned to tie her shoes because she wanted to wear those. She wanted it so badly, and it never occurred to her that she couldn’t. I’m like, you are a tiny little four-year-old peanut. There’s no way you’re gonna do this. Like, Felicity, I think Felicity tied her shoes at probably six or close to it, and I think probably most of them do. But um, yeah, she, I mean, it just never occurred to her that she couldn’t do it. And to me, like that was just really cool. I mean, it was really, really cool. You know, I think about them learning to ride their bikes and Felicity at first, when she learned to ride her bike, she wiped out, right? We had her and we were all about like, you’ve got this, it’s gonna be so cool. You’re you know, we’re gonna hold the bike and then we’re gonna run with you, and then you’re we’re gonna let go and you won’t even realize it. So, of course, the kid wipes out and she’s a little scraped up and crying and whatever, and it’s just too hard, I can’t do it, it’s too hard. And if we had let her be okay with it’s too hard, I can’t do it, she’d be going on 25 and not know how to ride her bike. But when we tell our kids, of course you can, you can learn this, you got this. If you have help, you have your mom and your dad here, you have your sister here, you know, whatever it is, you’ve got support. It’s gonna be okay. You can learn this. The more we and we reinforce that to them, the more they internalize it, and the more likely it is that that’s gonna be their go-to when they face tough circumstances in other things. We kind of wanted to talk about regard to disability. And Tony, why don’t you go ahead and take the lead on this?
Tony: 15:22
So there’s a couple different stories um that I wanted to share when it when it comes to this. So I know for for me personally, you guys know by now that like I was born with Cerebral Palsy. And so like when when I started, like in my childhood, I started in a wheelchair uh just just because uh my hamstrings were were very tight. Learning to walk was extremely difficult. They just started me in in a wheelchair just just to help me be able to get around. As I was working with uh the physical therapists, you know, they they said, you know, you can you can walk, you can do this. And you know, physical therapy was not something that I was looking forward to. Uh every time that they came around, I was not happy, but I believed them. You know, when they said you can do this, I believed them. Now, does that mean that it was easy? No, it wasn’t easy at all. Learning how to walk is extremely difficult. And learning how to walk when you’re in the first grade, you know, when you’re seeing all of your classmates walk and run and jump and do all these other things, and you know, you can barely move around without anybody helping you, it’s it’s a very tough and very frustrating situation. But I did believe that I could walk, I just needed to work on it, and that’s the thing. I think when you think about a growth mindset, it’s not about an overnight process, it’s not I think and yet I will do. It is I think and then I will work and then I will do. And so, you know, so it’s something that just it takes time, and that’s unfortunately, that’s the one thing that most people don’t want to give, is they don’t want to give the time it takes to actually see the growth and be able to do whatever the thing is, you know. I knew and it and it took me a solid school year to be able to learn how to walk independently on my own. And so what happened? I went from a wheelchair to a walker to a crutch. And uh, you know, a single crutch is what I use now. But it took time for for me to get to those to those points and to those milestones. Uh, another story that I just want to share real quick. One of the girls uh that we worked with in one of uh my Bible studies that I lead, um, she walks with two canes. We had an event and and we there was a a soccer element to the event, and she didn’t think that that she she could kick the ball. Every time you put a ball in front of her, she would use her crutches to actually kick the ball. And we said, honey, you’ve got three people around you. We’re not gonna let you fall. You can do this, you can kick, you can kick the ball. We literally put the ball right in front of her foot, and we said, just pick your pick your foot up, pull it back, and just just kick it. Let’s let’s just see how far you get. And she kicked it once and it went about six inches, and then we just erupted in cheers and and we just celebrated her, and it was just awesome. And we said, Hey, do you want to do it again? She’s like, Yeah, I want to do it again. Awesome. So we got the ball, we got the ball, we put it back in front of her foot, and we said, Go ahead, kick it. And she did, and then and it went probably two feet, and we just we just cheered and it was awesome. And she said, Hey, I want to do it again. Awesome, great. So we put the ball down and she said, Watch what I’m gonna do. And she backed up like four or five steps. And this girl with a smile, big as life, ran and kicked that ball. She believed that she could. She was finally in an environment with people around her and with the support around her that believed in her and said, Hey, you can do this. And so, in that in those moments, we were able to shift her mind and and help her see that growth mindset of, hey, I can do this. And now it’s like every time I see her, it’s like, you go, we playing soccer today? She’s like, Yeah, we go play soccer today. So um it it’s it’s just awesome to see that growth, but it’s because you know that there were people around that said, no, you can do this. And I think that’s so important that in that growth mindset that you have that support around you to be to be able to help you through the through the stages and through the hard moments.
Kristy: 20:14
I’m totally with you. And I think um, I think that as we as we recognize the value of growth mindset and it becomes more part of just who we are, that our our default becomes, of course I can, but I just have to learn it. I don’t know how yet. I mean, that’s the power of yet, right? It’s yet gives this undetermined future time where the thing that that seems impossible today will be real, you know, and and it’s like you said, it’s not, it doesn’t mean that I think I’m magic and I’ll be able to do it tomorrow. It just means that I believe I can learn to do it and and I want to, I love to learn. I, you know, when I’m faced with a challenge, I wanted and I wanna to um to master it over time, right? Here’s probably the best example I can give. And guys, it’s this big podcast overall. So Tony and I think the idea of Unshaken has kind of come together just as the ministry as a whole has sort of come together over the better part of a year, I would say. And it started with writing. I mean, we’re we’re working on some um some print materials, some devotionals, some I am probably 75% through a book. We’re working on some things like that for you guys. But um, we were at it, Tony and I went to a conference, um, and we got in the car on the way out, and Tony almost out of the blue, says, What do you think if we do a podcast? And I was like, uh, we as in who? We as in you and the mouse in your pocket. Like, um, and uh, you know, we we talked about it a little bit and I was like, you know what? Okay, cool, but I don’t know how to do a podcast. And he says, well, I don’t either. But he believed, you know, he believed that that we could do it, that we could figure it out. And as it works, he has figured it out. Um, I still sort of lean to the the writing and that kind of stuff. You know, we work together on the ideas for the episodes that we’re gonna present and the you know, the notes that we make beforehand. But Tony has, he’s the one who has powered through all this. He’s learned how I don’t even know all the stuff he’s learned. He’s learned about the equipment that we needed, and he did the research on microphones and on the recording software, and I mean, like all this stuff, how podcasts roll out and what the process for like all of this stuff. He’s read and read and read, and and he’s learned it. And for me, I was like, yeah, that sounds like a whole lot of tech, it’s just kind of not my bag. And Tony said, it’s all right, I got it. Like I can learn it, and he has. I am so proud and I’m so truly grateful that he has put in the time and the effort, and Tony has learned this thing. And it’s because of him and that effort that we’re able to put a podcast episode together every week. I’m I’m kind of blown away by it. I think the next thing that we kind of wanted to talk about is how growth mindset applies to faith and how um how growth mindset is really rooted in scripture. Tony, why don’t you why don’t you run with this one for a little bit?
Tony: 23:52
You know, I I I said earlier that you know there’s there’s so many places in scripture where, you know, where it’s just so many metaphors about growth and and that kind of thing. And and to me, the you know, the the first scripture that comes to mind is just Philippians 1: 6, and that’s just being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it to carry it on to completion until the day of of Christ Jesus. And and this is a so this is coming out of a letter that that Paul wrote to this church, and he wrote it as as uh encouragement to them because they’re you know they’re probably feeling a little bit down, and and um, you know, he wanted them to stay the course, he wanted them to keep going, to keep pushing, to keep growing. And and so, you know, that’s he he wanted them to know that hey, be confident that like what you’ve started here, it’s it’s going to be a good thing. You know, I think about like when when you thinking about a growth mindset, like you’re going to start somewhere and you have to know and you have to have the confidence that that it’s going to it’s going to get better and you’re going to learn and you’re going to you’re going to get to a place where where you can say, hey, I can do this now. You know, because because you’ve taken the time, you’ve learned. And honestly, like if God is is calling you to do this, and really when it came to this podcast, I really felt like God was calling us to do this podcast. And so I really believed, I said, okay, God, if you’re if you’re truly in this, then you’re gonna help us to to learn and to grow so that we can do this well. Because we want to represent you well. We wanna we we want to point people to you. We want, you know, people to to grow in their in their relationships with each other, but also in their relationship with you. You know, so I I would always say in my prayers as as we were kind of getting this thing started, and I was starting to learn, I I always said, God, like it, I want you to be in this, so help me to learn and help me to grow in this and help me to do these things. And so I I truly do believe that that the things that that God is calling us to do, you know, and no matter what your calling is, you know, you’re not going to necessarily know how to do everything from the word go. But as you continue on and as you press on, I believe that God is going to put those things in front of you to be able to learn, to be able to grow, to be able to uh move forward. And and you’ll be able to look back on at some point and say, whoa, I’ve actually learned a whole lot of cool stuff. And it’s because that I because I had the confidence that God was with me in this in this process, you know, and so you know, another another scripture that that I love that really I’ve been kind of focusing on for my own self-confidence is is uh Romans 12: 2, and it says, do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is that is good, pleasing, and perfect, and his good pleasing, pleasing, and perfect will. And the thing is that a lot of uh most of us stop with you know the very first half of that verse, but so many of us say, you know, what what is God calling me to do? Well, in order to figure that out, like we’ve gotta get to a point where we’re we’re focusing on what is what is good, and we we are focusing on being more like him. And so that so in order to do that, we have to make sure that we’re not conforming to the pattern of this world, and that we’re not focused on the patterns and and the lies that that the world will will try to tell us. And and this is something that I struggle with all the time because I know that God loves me, and I know that God wants me to do some awesome things for him, but so many times I get down on myself and I’m like, ah, I can’t do this, or or I’m worthless, or whatever, whatever, whatever. And that’s not focusing on God, that’s conforming to what the world is telling me. The world is telling me, hey, because you’re disabled, you’ve got nothing to offer the world. You’ve got nothing, you’re worthless, you’re useless because I’m disabled. That’s not what God says. And God says, no, you had I have a plan and purpose for your life. I want you to do some things, but in order to do that, I’ve got to grow into the man that God is calling me to be. And so I can either say, nope, I’m gonna stay home, I’m not gonna do anything, or I can say, All right, I’m not there yet, but I can be. And I can continue to grow, I can continue to learn and get there. And it just it just leads me into you know the the last scripture that um is is so I I believe is so important. And and it’s a scripture that that as part of a men’s group, it became our key verse, which was uh John 15: 4, which talks about abiding in Christ. Now, some translations will say remain in Christ, remain in me. And so this chapter, the beginning of chapter 15, is talking about how Christ is the vine and we are the branches. And Christ is saying, stick with me, stay in me, because if you are apart from me, you’re not going to grow. And we we know this to be true in common sense because if there’s a vine and there are branches on that vine, once you cut that branch off, that branch isn’t gonna grow. That branch is gonna lay on the ground and it’s gonna die. And so it is so important that we stay connected and we continue to live with and grow in Christ. And so that’s why I think, you know, again, I I’ve I’ve no I have no issue with with translations that use that use the word remain. It’s it’s a great word, but I believe a better word, and I believe a more appropriate word is abide because that gives an image of living in and growing in and being with. And so those things all point to growth, they all point to change, they all point to being better today than I was yesterday. Those are just a couple you know quick examples, but I think all of these things just point to the the fact that God is not looking for perfection, God’s looking for progress. We are to be more and more like Christ each and every day. Part of doing that is leaning into the grace that He gives us every day. I believe that the grace that God gives is kind of that soil, that that that top soil, you know, that nice nutrient-rich soil that that all seeds need to just sprout and grow and and and be strong. And and and I think that is found in the grace that we are given by God each and every day. And we we just have to lean into that. And and I think when we lean into that, we’re able to say, okay, I can’t do this right now, but it doesn’t mean that I can’t. It just means that I can’t yet. And when we lean into that grace, we’re able to take the risk and do something crazy, like learning how to do a podcast, and and be able to say, okay, I wasn’t able to do a podcast a year ago, but I said we can’t do this right now, but it just means we can’t do it yet. And we learned, we read, we watched, we listened, and here we are.
Kristy: 32:30
I think um, I just think everything you said was was spot on. It’s God’s grace that allows us to make mistakes and know that it’s okay, that it’s not a brokenness, it’s not a failure, it’s part of the learning process, it’s part of that growth. As you were talking, an example came to mind for me. So I use a self-care app, and it has me all day like doing like the things that I do if I click, you know, that I did them that I uh so for example, I just opened it. Um, do one thing that you’re dreading that gets me some points. Uh, say one thing I’m grateful for before I go to bed, drink enough water, like it just it’s those sorts of goals. And one of the goals that I set for myself was try to love Kristy. She tries hard, you know. And so one of the prompts that it came up with um a few days ago was around Elin. And it said, What is something that you think that Elin admires about you? And what came to mind was that I’m working hard to get better, that I’m trying every day to improve and to grow. And that’s something that Tony and I have always really just really tried hard to impart to our kids is that you know, we value education, we value growth, we value hard work, like that when we don’t know something, we figure it out. And if we if we can’t do it by ourselves, we ask for help because we know that as uh as partners or as a family, we can do it, that um growth mindset isn’t just an individual thing, right? That we have resources in each other and that as a family we can figure it out. And so it just really was very um, it was one of those eye-opening moments for me when I thought, like, yeah, I I do think that’s what my my kiddo probably admires most about me, is that I continually want to do better. And it, I mean, it it just it made me happy. It made me feel like, okay, this is a day that I really do love Kristy because she’s trying. Um, you know, and that’s all that we can ask of somebody is that they keep trying, right? It’s that when somebody gives up, how do you help? How can you, whether it’s just uh the lack of a growth mindset, a fixed mindset, or um negativity or depression, or I mean, it could be any number of reasons, right? Why somebody kind of gets stuck. And when somebody is stuck, that is the most to me, one of the most difficult, most frustrating things, right? Because I know what they can do. Like I know it’s it’s possible, but if they don’t believe that it doesn’t matter, you can have all the faith in the world. You could have faith that they could move mountains, but if they don’t think they can learn to move the mountain, the mountain’s gonna stay. So anyway, I just kind of wanted to mention that. It was just really cool to me, you know, to to think about that and to think that it is a value that I think we’ve we’ve instilled in our kids. And um having said all of this, I think we’re probably getting tight on time. Just I guess in closing, I would like to say that we need to celebrate progress, um, however small it is. Even if the progress is that you have found new ways to fail. You know, I don’t know how to do it yet, but I know it’s not this. You know, I know it’s not these five things I just tried. Um, I think that’s progress, right? That’s growth, that’s moving toward knowing how to do the thing or a deeper understanding of whatever it is. And I think that’s just really cool. So this week I wish for you to just try stuff. If you if you think you can’t, think again and think of how you could, if you you know, with with time and practice, um, and see if you can get your place, your yourself to a place where you think I don’t know how to do that yet, but I’m gonna figure it out. Just know that we’ll be thinking about you guys this week and wishing you every good thing, wishing you growth and wishing you joy, just every good thing. God, we come before you just really grateful for the opportunity to try and to grow. We’re so grateful that you’re with us and that we have your support and your help in everything that we try to do. Um, and you know, even the things that that at first feel just really difficult, almost impossible. We know that that with you and and with continued effort and just an open mind and and just the perseverance to keep on trying, that we can we can learn how to do it. That there will come a time where we can look back and remember way back at the beginning of the process when we thought we couldn’t and now we can’t. Um, we’re grateful to you for opportunities to learn for every new thing that we can master as it it helps us to become more and more like Jesus, the way that you would have us all be. Just thank you for your love, thank you for your consistency, and thank you for people in our lives who will help us, whether it’s help us to learn to do the new thing or help us to remember that we can learn to do the new thing. We’re grateful for our friends, we’re grateful for each other, for our families, and for everything that you do for us, but we’re we’re most grateful for your son. We love you, and it’s in his name that we ask all these things. Amen.
